"DON'T KILL THE PLANET JANET"... an environmental song about our planet ...... BY the wasps, 2022

PUNKS FOR THE PLANET!

"DON'T KILL THE PLANET JANET" An Environmental Song by THE WASPS

This is not a preach, not a sermon, its just a fact, as a punk, human, living thing or bystander.

We are all “Planet Janet”. You, me, everyone and every living thing/being, including Planet Janet herself (Mother Earth). We are all interconnected in nature, whether you like it or not. There are consequences to our life styles and actions. When you throw your rubbish out, flush it down the loo, or out the window as your drive or  sit at a bench. Where does it go? Why do you care? It’s somebody else’s job to pick it up and dispose of it. We are all guilty of that at some point.

The Planet, us, all it’s flora and forna that exist upon it. It is our universal responsibility, not just to us who exist now, but to those who unwittingly follow us in the footsteps that we have carved out for us and them.

The song “ Don’t Kill The Planet Janet” is an anthem/cry for help about our egregious behaviour towards our home, everyone’s home.  Not pointing the finger at anyone in particular, but collectively, humanity, the animals with whom we share this most unique and precisous abode, we are ALL on the same ship heading towards a perilous, uncharted territory. We need to influence and inspire us adults world wide and future generations (those of whom will be the most affected and who look up to us for moral guidance), so that we can make fundamental changes to the way we live and co exist on our planet. We need to work with our planet, not against it.

THE WASPS STORY

1976-1979 and today

THE WASPS are a British Power Pop Punk band first formed in East London, February 1976 with ORIGINAL LEAD SINGER/SONGWRITER JESSE LYNN-DEAN.  They were there at the start of the UK Punk rock movement, along with the likes of The Clash, Sex Pistols, The Damned, Buzzcocks, UK Subs, Sham 69, Stiff Little Fingers, Subway Sect & many more. During the '76-'77 period They performed extensively at venues across London and the UK such as The Roxy, The Vortex, The Bridge House, and performed live twice on Radio 1's John Peel show, etc...  Their singles "Teenage Treats" (a favourite of Peel's),  "Can't Wait 'Till '78" (along with their version of "Waiting For My Man on the '77 "Live at The Vortex" album), are considered  Punk classics from that period. They released their single "Rubber Cars" on RCA in 1979 which was RCA's fastest selling single the week of its release. The Wasps singles and tracks from 1977-1979 appear on numerous Punk compilation albums.

NOW, jumping forward an astonishing 42 years to today, LYNN-DEAN has reinvented The Wasps with creative & talented musicians all with a pedigree in Punk and afficionados of British Punk '76-'79 era.

They are all currently based on the Costa del Sol, southern Spain and have and in October 2021 they their brand new album, "Punk Prayer" which was released on CD in March 2022 with the vinyl version was released on Family Spree Recordings in June 2022.

In 2022 The Wasps went on a headlining tour in the UK, Spain & Portugal.

In June 2023 The Wasps are supporting "FROM THE JAM" (with original JAM member Bruce Foxton) They are taking over from the BUZZCOCKS who are supporting "FROM THE JAM" on the UK leg of their world tour.

In August 2023 The Wasps are confirmed to perform at REBELLION PUNK FESITVAL in Blackpool, UK. This is the largest Punk Festival in the world with over 300 bands performing.
